This is Brian and I. — We finally met in person, for the first time, on May 10th 2013.
8 years ago we met online, and talked on and off for the better part of the first five years. Over the last two years though; the conversations grew, from every once and awhile to ever day. Every day, all day long. I started waking up to good morning text, and sending good night text nightly. Then we started calling. And Skyping. Feelings just grew in this natural way, I don’t know when or how, but this boy had become something much more than a friend to me. I affectionately named him lover boy. Our feelings only continued to grow for one another, our conversations got deeper, more meaningful. Dare I say the L word has slipped more than once. Of course we always talked about meeting, but how would such a thing ever be possible? He’s from Chicago, and I am from Vegas.
Well as luck would have it, his grandmother lives here in Vegas! A long time ago, she offered him a trip to Vegas for his 21st birthday, a trip he never cashed in on, and I guess technically he still hasn’t cashed it. His grandma’s boyfriend is sick, with throat cancer. So his mom wanted to come down and support his grandma, and of course his mom brought him with her. I still remember the way my heart pounded when he sent me the email with the plane tickets, and times. That moment, of ‘oh my god, this is really going to happen. I am finally going to meet him.’
I must say, our first meeting was beyond perfect! My heart leapt when I saw him for the first time, and I never wanted to leave his arms. Ever. I fit so perfectly in his arms, we fit together so well. He spent a week here, and what an amazing week it was. We fell into each other so easily, as if he has always been here, as if we have always been together. There was no awkwardness to us. It was just natural. We went to the lake, and we went bowling. He asked me to be his girlfriend on May 12th and of course I said yes! He spent time with me at school while I wrote my final paper, and he edited my paper for me (at almost 4 in the morning). We went to the David Copper field show and spent a night on the strip. Then we had our first date on May 16th, which also happened to be his last night in town. It was bitter sweet; it was an amazing date, dinner and all. After dinner I drove him up to this point that overlooks the whole city, all light up. I just never wanted that night to end.
Sadly though, he’s gone back home. I miss him so much, it hurts. But of course we’re already trying to make plans for me to go out to see him, or him to come back and see me. This isn’t going to be easy, but nothing worth having ever is.
